Meet the People
Bobby & Melissa Smith are the founders and directors of The Lunch Wagon program that feeds Wabash Co. children 0-18 during the times when school is not in session. They are raising their five children in Allendale. Bobby is the Allendale Village Superintendent and pastor of the First Christian Church. Melissa is a stay at home mom that balances her time between caring for their 5 children, managing The Lunch Wagon, and participating in church and other community activities.
Dale & Peggy Hughes are Co-Directors of The Cupboard food pantry. Both grew up in Allendale and after several years away, decided to return and settle in their hometown. Dale is a retired crane operator and truck driver. Peggy works in the payroll department at a local construction company. They are members of the First Christian Church. They are raising two daughters, Brooke & Reana, that you will often see helping at the food pantry during college breaks. They also have three grown children.
Ryan & Laurie Andrews also share in the Co-Director duties of The Cupboard food pantry. Ryan is an Allendale native. His wife Laurie grew up in nearby Vincennes but we are so glad that she chose Allendale to be her new home. They are the parents of two children, Rhett & Kate, which can be seen helping out at the food pantry nearly every week. Ryan is a chiropractor and Laurie can be found either assisting her husband at the office, substitute teaching, or helping at the food pantry. The Andrews’ are also members of the First Christian Church.
